The HV Protection Systems Lead will be responsible for developing a consistent approach across the various contributing offices for all Power Transmission Protection system tasks undertaken for the Project.
These tasks include the production of Level 2 (or ‘Functional’) design information, associated technical enquiry specifications (to be issued by the client) for the development of the detailed engineering designs by the supply chain, evaluations of tenders and provide support to the Client in the review, checking and approval of sub-contractor detailed manufacturing/constructional engineering designs, calculations, specifications and drawings.
In addition to technical support, the role will also involve assistance in the development of the team, project and bid management as well as managing client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The project\'s HV Protection Systems Lead is responsible for:
• Development of a robust discipline method statement for discipline technical activities within the project
• Selection and documentation of the discipline codes, standards, procedures, instructions, forms, tools, standard methods and specifications to be used in the execution of technical activities within the discipline
• Preparation of Technical Proposals and associated estimates in response to Client Enquiries
• Identification of the competencies required to fulfil the technical requirements and requisitioning sufficient competent personnel to meet client and project requirements
• Evaluating and assuring the competency of personnel assigned to tasks and roles within the discipline
• Assuring conformance with agreed codes, standards and procedures in the execution of discipline activities
• Undertaking discipline tasks where required
• Approval of discipline produced deliverables
• Providing regular reports on progress and conformance to the project\'s engineering lead
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a relevant engineering Degree (or equivalent) or a Chartered Membership of appropriate Engineering Institutions.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Chartered Engineer
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of 5+ years but preferably 10+years experience in HV Protection System Analysis design aspects in a highly regulated industry, preferably in the process or nuclear industry, including:
• Design of protection systems at 400kV down to 10kV using modelling software through full life-cycle design activities from concept to detailed procurement
• Application of safety assessments for the design of the protection system for 400kV substation and distribution down to 10Kv
• Interfacing with other technical disciplines on multi-discipline design projects
• Expertise in HV system Protection Settings Analysis on HV systems design to appropriate codes and standards including connection requirements to National Grid
• Commissioning Experience would be advantageous
