Cost Planners for Education Projects, Birmingham

Urgent requirement for seven experienced Cost Planners to join the education sector of a leading national contractor. The positions are permanent and to start immediately. There is £2.4bn worth of work, all within education, to be carried out over a ten year period.

This company are renowned in almost all construction and property sectors, and are one of the UK’s leading companies working within education.

Responsibilities:

§Production of commercial bid response to tender enquiry

§Ensuring risk and opportunity evaluation of the bids is carried out

§Capturing and analysis of cost data from live projects

§Production and management of the measurement process

§To support project teams with change control and major variations

§To participate and evaluate Value Engineering Solutions

Key Delivererables:

§Managing the production of the commercial offer

§Negotiations with clients and their cost consultants to establish the project budget

§Production of robust cost plans and supporting data

§Budget management

Skills and Capabilities Required:

§Proven track record in producing competitive estimates and managing costs and budgets for education schemes, either from a main contracting or consultancy background

§The Cost Planner should have the ability to interpret incomplete construction detail and estimate costs for an appropriate complete design

§Experience of a wide range of construction solutions that enables the Cost Planner to consider and propose alternative solutions

§Experience of and confidence to represent the company view of costs in negotiations with clients and their representatives

§Ability to give direction to the project design team to enable them to design to optimum/prescribed construction budget

§Ability to challenge the client brief and its design response, any statutory requirements and make proposals for change
