JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Manager
LOCATION: Gaydon
SALARY: £45k - £50k a year
DURATION: Permanent
COMPANY INFORMATION:
My client is a leading automobile manufacturer who specialise in the luxury sports car sector.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
To provide Health and Safety leadership and coordinate health and safety improvement throughout the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Company on Health and Safety issues to achieve a high level of compliance company wide.
· Take a proactive approach to raising health and safety awareness by coaching and guiding individuals/groups.
· Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy;
· Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced;
· Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards;
· Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
· Planning practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices;
· Attending safety committee meetings;
· Negotiating with managers, group leaders and technicians to try to eliminate conflict between production and safety considerations;
· Making necessary changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation;
· Leading in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks;
· Keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
· Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the company, etc etc.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Significant experience managing people and leading on Health and Safety matters, preferably working in a manufacturing environment.
Work experience in a \"lean environment\" would be an advantage, understanding the need and use of standardized work processes (kamishibi).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree or equivalent/potential
Formal professional competence including NEBOSH certificate (or minimum NVQ level 4 or equivalent)
IOSH membership
CMIOSH
