My client is a market leader in the design and manufacture of MV Switchgear and associated protection systems.

JOB TITLE: Electrical Engineer
LOCATION: North West
SALARY: Negotiable
DURATION: Permanent

KEY EXPERIENCE: Ideally will have previous experience of working for a switchgear manufacturer.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Principle Engineer; to provide technical design and carrying out the testing of Medium Voltage (11/33KV) projects which include switchgear and associated protection systems.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
* Formal qualifications to HND/HNC level in Electro/Mechanical Engineering a minimum requirement with degree level desirable.
* IOSH (Safety Passport).
* NEBOSH certificate preferred but not essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Technical design aspects of delivering switchgear projects from specification to delivery.
* Provide support and direction to project team members and subcontract partners, including the application of technical standards.
* Design and approval of engineering drawings.
* Attend technical meetings with the client.
* Inspection of switchgear and protection systems.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Design Engineering function ideally within the Medium Voltage Switchgear industry.
* Good working knowledge of MV Switchgear both AIS & GIS advantageous.
* Good working knowledge of Protection Relays and Interlocking Scheme design advantageous.
* Fully conversant with current Transmission & Distribution standards & technologies.
* Good negotiating skills.
* Awareness of Commercial/Contractual issues.
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations / Current H&S legislation & Risk Management processes essential.
* IT Literacy (MS Office including MS Project etc).
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
