JOB TITLE: Building Services/Mechanical Engineer
LOCATION:  Thatcham, Aldermaston 
SALARY:  Dependent on experience
DURATION:  12 months

COMPANY INFORMATION:
Our client is one of the leading providers of technical consultancy, engineering services and programme and asset management to the nuclear industry.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
Design and Engineering substantiation of HVAC, Building Service systems (utilities including gas), Steam boilers / systems and district heating systems Design studies, optioneering, scheme and detail design. Design and specification of modifications and replacement/new plant and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation of design basis documents & detailed specifications for utilities, steam / heating / boiler plant / system design:

• Ventilation flow sheets, calculations, equipment/ductwork sizing. Containment systems building ventilation specification; building services & lighting system design
• Writing engineering substantiation reports, knowledge of nuclear standards
• Able to act as discipline lead / RE. Working knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment
• Preparation of detailed equipment specifications
• Production of design documents and drawings. Good communicator. Ability to perform general plant performance calculations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
HNC/HND or Degree (or equivalent) in Building Services / Mechanical Engineering

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree CIBSE membership/ C Eng or equivalent, possibly associate or full membership of an appropriate institute.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• 10 years minimum with at least 5 in the nuclear industry in a senior design position.
• Working knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment.
• Preparation of detailed equipment specifications.
• Production of design documents and drawings.
•  Good communicator. Ability to perform general plant performance calculations
