JOB TITLE: C & I Engineer

Our client is one of the leading providers of technical consultancy, engineering services and programme and asset management to the nuclear industry.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
To provide support to a long term legacy PLC replacement project, for fuel route control systems on nuclear power plants. Working under supervision, either individually or as part of a team, to deliver high quality work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to Software, C&I and Safety System Engineers at our Newcastle office for the development and testing of code migration & dynamic model/simulation environments including: Implementation & testing of PLC software modules & systems.

Design implementation & testing of simulation software devices for complete project simulation. Design, configuration, implementation & testing of SCADA systems.Writing project specific documentation compliant with project/customer/industry standards.

Continually develops technical knowledge and competence in field of expertise, and seeks to develop skill portfolio. Successful execution of high quality engineering work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferably educated to Degree level, however HNC/HND considered in a mathematical, scientific or engineering discipline.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The candidate(s) should have specific knowledge in PLC programming and system integration, SCADA configuration and software testing techniques etc, and knowledge and experience of installation and commissioning of PLC / SCADA systems.

Added benefits would be the capability to either assess, or review assessments of the reliability of safety related Programmable Systems in accordance with international standards, e.g. IEC 61508.

Previous work on PLCs in safety related applications is desirable, however not essential. Experience of Nuclear Power plant fuel route operations would be advantageous.
