JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer (Team Leader)
LOCATION: Sunderland
SALARY:  Depending on experience

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
Due to recent large scale design and build engineering contract awards, my client is currently seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to work within its Naval and Nuclear group based in Sunderland. Although relevant experience in the nuclear industry would be an advantage, applications from engineers with transferable skills will be welcome.The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of outsourced equipment and services as part of the execution of design and build projects. The majority of projects will involve medium to large fabricated and machined assemblies with integrated hydraulic and electrical systems.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software or viewing software will be beneficial but is not essential
- Computer literate in MS Office 2003 (Outlook, Word, Excel & Powerpoint)
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering
- Effective communication and commercial awareness
- Self motivated and customer focussed
- Able to work alone or part of a team


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The main purpose of the role is to manage the relationship between the in house project teams and external suppliers selected to provide goods and services as part of EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning) projects. The role will encompass activities in all parts of the project lifecycle, from concept design through to supply and commissioning at the customer site. These duties and capabilities will include:

- Supplier selection, vetting and auditing
- Procurement management
- Goods handling
- Experience and delivery of £1M to £5M projects essential
- Interpretation of advanced manufacturing data in 3D CAD format
- Interpretation of 2D drawings used for manufacture
- Participate in design reviews and input on practical manufacturing methods that may influence the design
- Appreciation of the application of (CAE) Computer Aided Engineering in modern manufacturing
- Working knowledge and experience of the fabrication, welding and assembly of medium to large fabricated structures, including component manufacturing techniques and methods
- Working knowledge and experience of machined components and assemblies
- Working knowledge of the integration of electrical and hydraulic systems with mechanical assemblies
- Adhering to company quality systems and knowledge of inspection techniques
- Liaison between the engineering team and the supply chain, handling change requests, non conformances and inspection reports and certification
- Ensuring manufacturing and supplier activities are carried out inline with the project delivery requirements
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures and risk assessments for off site work
- Supervision of on-site commissioning of equipment and on-site installation team
