Site Quantity Surveyor – Leading Residential Main Contractor

The Role

Three vacancies have arisen for a Site Surveyor working in North London, Central London and Luton.
The Site Surveyors will take accountability for the development and implementation of all pre and post contract strategies, commercial functions and contract reporting on delegated projects and or works packages. 

 

Key Accountabilities include:

 

  • Showing awareness of internal and customer objectives and plan appropriately for changing circumstances
  • Demonstrating awareness and understanding of project opportunities and risks
  • Demonstrating awareness of key objectives and priorities work to assist in measurement and valuation, internal and external valuations and administration of contract records
  • Regularly promoting and ensuring compliance with group SHE policies
  • Demonstrating an understanding of internal and external tender strategies / build up
  • Contributing to project commercial strategies and taking ownership for own subcontract packages
  • Contributing to relevant project procurement strategies with particular reference to issuing tender enquiries, package reconciliations and production of subcontract orders
  • Managing and completing relevant subcontract and main contract contractual records including the production of claims and final account information.

Successful candidates will be working on major brown and green field new build social housing developments from £20m upwards.


Skills and Capabilities

This role requires:

  • A strong knowledge of construction methods and technology, measurement and valuation and administration of contract methods
  • A strong knowledge of subcontract /materials orders and buying
  • Knowledge of claims, loss and expense
  • Ability to form and develop relationships with PQS, design team and supply chain
  • Commercial skills, maximising value recovery, cost control and cash management
  • Good interpersonal skills - ability to work effectively with site management and the rest of the team
  • Ability to use / understand financial reports and final accounts

 

 Essential Experience and Characteristics:

  • Applicants must have experience working on residential schemes or mixed use schemes of £20m value upwards
  • Applicants must be sharp and focused and keen for career progression
  • Applicants should be versatile and adaptable
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong track record in their career to date showing longevity and progression with previous employers
  • Applications from assistant Quantity Surveyors with less experience than stipulated but who are bright and keen to move quickly up the ladder in a leading contractor are also welcomed
