An excellent opportunity has a risen for an Associate level Sustainability Consultant to work with one of the UK most successful multi-discipline Construction Consultancies based in London.

Due to expansion and increased focus on developing their sustainability services, they have several excellent opportunities to supplement and strengthen their existing teams.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to play a key role in service development.

The Role:

To help their clients improve the sustainability of their buildings and developments, including (but not limited to) advice and analysis of:

  • Environmental impacts
  • The cost and economic impacts, and
  • Wider social and community benefits and impacts.
  • To help develop and deliver sustainability services, focused on providing advice and support to clients and design teams about how to improve the sustainability of buildings and development.
  • Providing strategic advice on sustainability, with a particular focus on buildings and development
  • Providing practical, project-focused advice and assessments on improving the sustainability of buildings and development (covering such impacts as carbon emissions, energy efficiency, waste and recycled content, etc), and with a particular focus on the cost and economic implications of these impacts
  • Taking responsibility for associated research, analysis and, where appropriate, the development of new tools and capabilities to support such assessments
  • Helping to co-ordinate contributions from other key service lines (eg Tax, Spec Writing, Consulting) to the sustainability service.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of CSR policy, especially in relation to environmental matters.
  • Helping to raise awareness, and to improve the capability of their personnel generally in relation to sustainability and the environmental impact of construction and buildings.
  • Sharing responsibility for day to day management of others in the sustainability team.

7-10 years experience in construction, with a focus on advising on the environmental impact of construction and development.

Knowledge of:

  • Sustainability, with a particular focus on the environmental impact of construction
  • Government policy in relation to sustainability in the built environment
  • Building services engineering technology; design strategies for environmentally benign buildings.
  • Evaluation tools (BREEAM, LEED, GB Tool, CEEQUAL, etc) and strategies
  • Cost and economic implications of sustainability.

If possible, candidates should also have knowledge of the following:

  • Energy/Carbon policy issues
  • Resource policy issues
  • Low energy/low carbon technology
  • Renewable energy sources
  • Key developments in new technology

Qualification:

  • Good first degree in a construction or environmental science discipline.
  • Master’s degree in environmental science or related discipline would be preferred
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution (RICS/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE or equivalent).Candidates with good compensating experience would also be considered.
  • Ability to develop business by creating service offerings and building on contacts and networks within the industry, and to build sustainable relationships with clients, industry and academe.
