JOB TITLE: Deputy Chief of Site
LOCATION: Knutsford, Hinkley Point
SALARY: Circa £90k + benefits
DURATION: Permanent
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
As a member of the Architect/Engineer’s (AE) site team, to support the Chief of Site in managing the totality of the site activities required to successfully bringing the first UK EPR to deliver full power by 31/12/2017, and the second to full power by 31/12/2018. This will involve managing and interfacing with all parties to the design and construction process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Deputy Chief of Site will be responsible for managing the construction, testing, commissioning and bringing to operation of the two nuclear power plants. He/she will do this within the framework of policies set out by the Owner and the Chief of Site, and with the support of specialist functional groups, either on site or within the AE organisation. The organisation will generally function as the Principal Contractor on the site.
The Deputy Chief of Site will be responsible for ensuring that the duties of the Principal Contractor are effectively and efficiently executed.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Representing the project interests from the organisation, working with the Owner and all site based personnel to achieve the aims of the project from day to day.
- Contributing to the implementation of the project and its aims and the optimisation of the business case o Leading the project team and the project contributors in the absence of the Chief of Site
- Ensuring that CDM 2007 and its requirements are complied with and assuring the competence of all site management personnel
- Planning, controlling and managing the work on site, Development and implementation of the work packages execution plans, method statements etc o Ensuring all contractors on site have the information necessary to go about their work safely and ensure the monitoring of compliance and assurance
- Ensuring and facilitating cooperation and coordination of activities between the contractors on the site
- Producing and maintaining the Health and Safety Plan and the handover of the health and safety file to the client at the end of the project
- Development and contribution to the project execution plans and risk management planning and control processes
- Developing and implementing the onsite logistics systems and the controlling of access to the site for the workforce and delivery including the administration
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Engineering background, degree qualification
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Extensive experience in managing and/or directing as a principal/prime contractor on major construction and civil works projects (> £500M pa) including abroad and in the UK. Extensive experience in managing international relationships and inter disciplinary teams.
Power plant or heavy engineering experience (particularly nuclear) would be an advantage. Demonstrable record in delivering Zero Harm or similar safety programmes and exemplary industrial relations, as well as time cost and quality.
