SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Our client is a leading engineering and safety consultancy providing project design and asset integrity management services and health, safety and risk management capabilities to the offshore and renewable energy industries.

Scope of role
The successful candidate will work within the structural integrity management, design and stress analysis project teams. The role will require a good understanding of structural behaviour and experience in analysis and design, together with a desire to develop project management and leadership skills. This role requires the ability to tackle demanding, thought provoking, technical problems by applying engineering methods from first principles and recognising the right solution in terms of both constructability and maintainability

Skills & qualifications
BSc(Eng) in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, possibly Aeronautical Engineering, from a reputable university
Applicants should be chartered or working towards chartership and have relevant experience
Applicants should have experience in at least two and preferably three of the following topics:-
Structural design and analysis of offshore structures with detailed knowledge of design codes and design guidance and the ability to solve demanding technical problems to demonstrate structural integrity
The use of structural analysis software (e.g. ASAS, SACS, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SESAM, USFOS) for linear and nonlinear global analysis and detailed analysis of structural components
Structural integrity management for existing structures involving structural reassessment, jacket and topsides (risk based) inspection planning, methods of inspection and inspection procedures
Fracture mechanics and risk based inspection
Design verification combining independent assessment, review of fabrication drawings and detailed review of design reports
Design of repairs and strengthening for offshore structures
Supervising and overseeing surveys, construction and installation works. Experience of working in the offshore environment for the oil and gas and/or renewable energy industries would be preferred
Participation in project management teams as Project Managers, Package Managers, Project Engineers or Project Planners
The drafting of the technical aspects of Invitation to Tender and contracts
Liaison with clients and the preparation of technical proposals
