Our client a leading construction consultancy in Lancashire has a vacancy for a Civil Engineering CAD Technician for initially a 6 month fixed contract period.
The Infrastructure team forms part of the Civil Engineering Design Consultancy which carries out feasibility work, designs and supervises a wide range of highways and general civil engineering projects. The Infrastructure Team has a wide and varied workload that includes major highways projects, local highway improvements and urban environmental improvements.
The Role
The successful candidate will assist the Infrastructure Team in the preparation of technical drawings that will be used for the construction and maintenance of the highways projects.
In addition this may also involve preparation of drawings for the construction and maintenance of highways structures.
The role will involve:
Preparation, alteration and printing of technical drawings prepared within the Auto?]CAD software package.
Liaison with other members of the Infrastructure Team to understand the requirements of the task to be undertaken.
Keep up to date and maintain highways records.
Assist in site visits with Engineers to identify and collect information required to carryout the design of items of work.
Responsibilities
Preparation, alteration and printing of technical drawings within AutoCAD 2008, to be used for the construction of highways improvement projects.
Preparation, alteration and printing of technical drawings that have been developed with the AutoTRACK package within AutoCAD to assist in the design process.
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate should be able to:
show that you are competent in the operation of AutoCAD at release 2008 or later, in the preparation of technical drawings used for the construction of highways projects and used for the construction of steel and concrete structures.
show that you are competent in the operation of AutoTRACK when used within an AutoCAD environment.
demonstrate good organisational skills.
show that you are adaptable and can adopt new working practices.
show that you have a ‘hands?]on’ approach and a practical attitude.
demonstrate that you can communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Desirable Criteria
OND or HND or an equivalent in an engineering discipline.
Relevant experience in the construction of steel and/or concrete structures
Relevant experience in highway structures design or maintenance.
A willingness, on occasions, to work weekends/evenings (not a regular requirement but necessary from time to time).
Show that you have knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements.
Show that you possess a full UK driving licence.
