An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director level Architect to work for a leading multi-discipline Construction Consultancy based in the North West.

Candidates must be fully qualified with RIBA, worked at Director level with a UK based consultancy or private practice and have several years of experience working within the commercial, leisure, hotel and retail industries. Excellent front-end client skills are a must along with the ability to deliver concept ideas and deliver projects as a lead designer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overview and management of all projects and personnel. You will also be a principal contributor to the financial and operational health of the design department. You will have shared responsibility for the financial management of the Architecture Studio Profit Centre, and will work together with other Directors and be partly responsible for meeting the agreed turnover, growth and profit targets. You will report directly to the Business Unit Director for their profit centre and the Design Director facilitating ongoing project design reviews.

Responsibilities will include; specific studio Management of Associate Directors and their team members, governance of fee setting and technical /design support for the Studio as well as ensuring Financial, Commercial and Operational responsibilities are undertaken and discharged correctly; together with exercising Financial Authority to agreed levels.

Operational

  • Lead, motivate and direct the Profit Centres within division.
  • Achieve growth and profitability, support bids for work and help to win work across sectors.
  • Review recruitment policy and resource deployment ensuring that resources match requirements and workload within the Division.
  • Ensure H&S duties are discharged correctly.

Financial

  • Understand and contribute to Profit Centres’ annual Business Plans and ensure that appropriate action is taken to correct any negative variance.
  • Liaise with other Directors, ensure business plans are implemented and successful, and to provide a focused corporate approach avoiding duplication of costs Profile future resource requirements.

Human Resources

  • Ensure the company’s vision and values are upheld and promoted through divisional Profit centres.
  • Review Salaries and Benefits at Associate Director and across the Studio with fellow Directors
  • Provide HR direction to Managers and Associate Directors.
  • Line Management responsibility for Associate Directors and other grades within the Studio

Reporting/Liaison

  • Report to the Business Unit Director for profit centre and the Regional Design Director
  • Review BD, Ops and Commercial Monthly Reports by Profit Centre within division.
  • Prepare and present monthly report to the Board.
