Site Manager

A Site Manager is required to join a noted privately owned contractor in the South West Region of the UK.

My client have an excellent reputation for quality and delivery, they are experiencing considerable growth after winning a number key projects within the region and are looking to source a Site Manager to operate within the South West.

As Site manager your main function is tomanage the contract to complete the specified works safely, on time, within budget and to required specification.

Key Functional Areas

  • Provide safe working conditions for all site operatives and visitors by ensuring that all works are carried out in compliance with Project Management and Work Control Plans and the Divisional and Company safety policy
  • Assist in the selection and procurement of sub contractors (and materials) to fit within the parameters of the programme
  • Identify potential problems before they become an issue, obtain all necessary information in good time, monitor progress including preparation of short term programmes, take action to correct deviations all to achieve/improve the contract programme
  • Record all information which may impact on time, quality, cost or safety and advise the Quantity Surveyor
  • Input and assist the Quantity Surveyor with the monitoring of the expenditure of preliminaries and advise on any deviation from plan
  • Conduct progressive inspections to ensure compliance with the company quality systems and work toward zero defects at practical completion
  • Direct members of site team to organise and co-ordinate the works to ensure all trades are working economically
  • Ensure that all site waste is dealt with in accordance with current best practice and legislation
  • Ensure welfare facilities are adequate and maintained to minimum company standards
  • Ensure partnering ethos is applied throughout the project
  • Have good communication skills

Key Experience

  • Experience in design and build projects using the main contract forms, specifically NEC and JCT
  • Experience in working in both private and public sectors, including health
  • The candidate is to have a proven track record within a similar role
  • Holding the relevant professional qualifications with professional institute membership
  • CSCS card
  • 5 day CITBas a minimum requirement
  • Other training desirable, such as; First Aid, CDM, scaffold inspection and crane co-ordination
  • Full Driving License
