Our client a leading construction consultancy has a requirement for an Associate level Civil Engineer to lead/deliver a range of local projects around the East Lancashire and Greater Manchester region.
You will programme and manage the workload of a team of engineers and technicians and be responsible for leading in the programming and project management of the design and construction of a range of civil engineering and highway related projects.
You will lead in the procurement of construction works projects whilst conforming to Client and internal procurement rules and processes.
You will manage project budgets and cost plans.
You will liaise with Clients, Stakeholders, and the public on projects.
Criteria:
·Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council.
·Be a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) or other related profession accredited by the Engineering Council.
·Or an Incorporated Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (IEng MICE) or other related profession accredited by the Engineering Council.
·You will have a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in the management of the design, implementation and supervision of all aspects of highway and general civil engineering design and construction.
You will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to manage a team of engineers and technicians in the delivery of projects. This shall include the following attributes
·To manage changing workload patterns to meet demands;
·To proactively manage the project resources available to deliver project requirements;
·To prepare fee proposals for packages of work;
·To monitor the fees and resource plans as aligned with profitability of ongoing packages of work against set targets;
·To access the commercial exposure a package of work may have and initiate the necessary mitigation measures;
·To set and work to deadlines and targets, for oneself and others;
·To manage a Team’s fee earning profiles against forecast and actual costs;
You must be able to demonstrate extensive experience in the following:
An extensive working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, and Codes of Practice;
Preparation of schemes for invitation of tender using the NEC3 Form of Contract, the Specification for Highway Works and the Standard Method of Measurement;
Leading the procurement process for construction projects in both a private and public sector environment;
Supervising and monitoring construction works on site;
Evidence of excellent communication skills showing both orally and in writing. This shall cover the production of technical reports, preparation of letters and statements, to a range of recipients;
The ability to deliver quality through implementing and adapting to achieve continuous improvement;
Evidence of the skill to consult and negotiate on engineering schemes and contractual matters;
Skills to use computers and computer aided design packages for preparation of plans, communications and presentations
Extensive knowledge of relevant highway and civil engineering statutory procedures with particular reference to Health and Safety;
Ability to innovate and influence as part of a Project Team on large infrastructure schemes
A full UK driving licence
