JOB TITLE:  CAD/Unigraphics Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION:  Thatcham, Berkshire
SALARY:   Dependent on experience
DURATION:  Contract

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
CAD/Unigraphics Mechanical Design Engineer to work as part of a Mechanical Design team in the design and specification of modifications and replacement/new plant and equipment especially handling devices. *Must have ability to obtain DV clearance*.
You must have CAD and Unigraphics operation and design capability working with AUTOCAD 2007/2009 and NX5 and above.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drawing design covering the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical handling devices and associated equipment.
Detail design to a level of detail to contract directly with the manufacture / construction / installation supply chain.
Sometimes referred to as 'Build to Print' design.
Identify and incorporate into system designs the essential components and features necessary to enable the proper setting to work and commissioning of completed equipment.
This will involve establishing values for the nominal capabilities of the mechanical handling devices within the range of operating duties anticipated and diversities applicable on maximum calculated loads.
Drawing capability up to RIBA stage K.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
HNC/HND or Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Design package Engineering.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree CIBSE membership/ C Eng or equivalent, possibly associate or full membership of an appropriate institute.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5 years minimum with nuclear industry experience an advantage.
SC cleared to start, expected to undergo DV clearance.
Both working and design knowledge of mechanical handling systems and associated equipment, preparation of detailed equipment specifications, production of design documents and drawings using Unigraphics NX5 or above.
Good communicator.
Ability to perform general mechanical design calculations.
