The Company
I am currently working with a highly reputable principal contractor and project management consultancy who specialise in complete turnkey solutions for the construction, high technology, energy from waste and utilities sectors. Their client base focuses primarily on leading electronics, pharmaceutical, chemical, automobile and communication companies, as well as research institutes and universities. The company have established an excellent name in their specific field throughout the UK, Europe and overseas. They currently have a requirement for a number of Electrical Design Engineers working on specific projects across the UK, Ireland and North West Europe. Ideally these candidates will be based out of South West or North East England with the flexibility to travel to and work on specific projects across Europe.

The Role
The primary purpose of these posts is to assist the Engineering Team in achieving the objectives of the Company with respect to Electrical Engineering designs for both internal and external clients. In doing this, to ensure maximum commercial and technical effectiveness and efficiency is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
• To contribute to co-operative working across disciplines in accordance with the company’s procedures, and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, leading them when required
• To contribute to ensuring that effective internal/external working relationships are established and maintained with clients, sub-contractors and specialist suppliers.
• To ensure the effective use of company resources and sub-contract packages in accordance with individual project cost plans
• Prepare estimates for the implementation of electrical services. Carry out site surveys to identify the Clients needs and requirements making recommendations as necessary
• Produce and develop designs for electrical services. Ensure that designs meet user requirements, cost limits and time scales. Contribute to the preparation of Health and Safety method statements and risk assessments in respect of construction work as required by the project to meet current legislation.
• Produce tender enquiry documents in respect of contracts for the provision of electrical services. Assist Quantity Surveyors in evaluating tender returns as may be required
• Monitor and comment on sub-contractors work as may be required on individual projects
• Contribute to the Engineering Team by attending as and when required regular team meetings and courses to ensure that changes in legislation and Company policies are fully complied with.
• Provide a professional and high quality service in accordance with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assist in the review of standards and procedures to ensure a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
The post holder should have at least a HNC in Electrical Engineering together with at least three years post-qualification experience, with sound organisational, communication, interpersonal and a broad experience in the design, installation and management of building services. The post holder must have working knowledge of current legislation and practices in all elements associated with electrical building services

Ideally the candidates will be fully conversant in some of the following:
• Power and Distribution Systems
• Lighting Design
• Fire alarm Design
• Security and CCTV Systems
• Health and safety legislation
• Design Calculations Software
• Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and on own initiative
• To be reasonably computer literate
• Computer Aided Design Techniques
• Experience of Quality systems to BS EN ISO 9001
• Possess good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate well at all levels
• CIBSE Membership at any grade
• The post holder should possess a current driving licence

The Rewards
The successful candidate will rewarded with an initial starting salary, dependant on experience between £40-50,000 plus additional benefits including car allowance, pension, private healthcare, 25 days holiday per annum + stats. Accommodation, fortnightly return flights and a per diem allowance will be provided if project based on a site in Europe.

Suitable candidates MUST have relevant electrical design experience with an M&E consultancy, contractor or similar.
