JOB TITLE:  Pedestrian Safety Engineer
LOCATION:  Gaydon, Warwickshire
SALARY:  £22 per hour LTD
DURATION:  Contract

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define Vehicle, System and Component level targets (from legal requirements, OEM (SDS), SAE, industry standard practice etc)
• Vehicle Safety Program Attribute Team (PAT) Leader for P298
• Cross functional technical lead/expert on pedestrian protection
• Lead performance delivery of pedestrian protection of pedestrian protection safety systems on P298
• Lead management of external CAE consultants to deliver value for money results
• Work with internal CAE team to deliver timely data to guide program decisions relating to pedestrian protection
• Develop DVP for pedestrian protection
• Work closely with pedestrian safety team leader
• Lead the financial management of the program budgets for test and properties and deliver to objectives for P298
• Carry out pedestrian protection testing in collaboration with external test houses
• Complete engineering signoff/approval of P298 pedestrian safety attribute
• Drive engineering issue resolution to meet all program targets and constraints
• Lead engineering decision making towards issue resolution for all P298 pedestrian protection issues
• Liaise with Project teams as pedestrian safety representative on P298
a. Act as first point of contact on projects for all P298 pedestrian safety issues
b. Ensure pedestrian safety programme meets project timing requirements
c. Deliver pedestrian safety programme within project budget
d. Attend and guide relevant PMST meetings for P298

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• A minimum of 5 years experience in Vehicle Safety Attribute engineering is preferred. Ideally including delivery of pedestrian safety on at least 1 program.
• Engineering degree (or equivalent)
• Intuitive knowledge of fundamental engineering theory.
• Evidence of enthusiasm for the role is essential
• Excellent organisational skills
• Self starting and self motivated
• Working knowledge of CAE tools for analysis and engineering decision making is required. Preferably with hands on CAE analysis experience using LS-Dyna & OASYS suite.
