JOB TITLE: Senior CAD Engineer Body Interior
LOCATION: Gaydon, Warwickshire
SALARY: £25 - £27 per hour
DURATION: Ongoing contract
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
The job holder will work, with the minimum of supervision, on the realisation of body interior component design & package on all aspects of interior components of future vehicle platforms in order to produce finished detailed CAD designs and drawings. This role also requires Project Engineering responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
i) Outline the main Policies, Procedures, Schedules, Process, and Manuals etc within which the job is required to operate.
Design components within Ideas format.
Use Digibuck to review and present design concepts
ii) Identify any time constraints, timetables, deadlines etc. within which the job has to operate.
Design and release workload to operate to the relative programme/PMST requirements
Standard 39 hours per week, working times are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30 am to 12:30 pm Friday with the possibility of overtime with the prior agreement of the Principal Engineer. Unpaid time off to be arranged in advance with the Principal Engineer subject to work load and problem resolution timing constraints.
iii) Describe typical problems/ complexities in the job and the type/nature of decisions made or referred elsewhere and to whom.
The successful candidate will be able take the CAD design from concept to finished CAD model and produce finished drawings for engineering release. The finished model must meet all performance and other attributes as detailed in published targets list – evidence to be known and in some cases presented. Some preparation of paperwork for engineering release may also be required. Knowledge of quality systems such as 8D and DFMEA would be an advantage as would flexibility and a willingness to take on challenges.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent within an engineering related discipline, with 5 years minimum continuous CAD experience in Ideas with automotive experience in component design. A working knowledge of Teamcenter would be advantageous although training can be provided
• Knowledge of interior trim components, plastic injection moulding components, Vac formed parts, machined metal products and metal bracketry. Knowledge of leather trimming and mechanism systems would also be advantageous
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• A working knowledge of component manufacturing, tooling requirements & lead times
