Our client is one of the leading providers of technical consultancy, engineering services and programme and asset management to the nuclear industry.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
Four UK EPRs planned for Hinkley, Somerset and Sizewell, Suffolk, involve significant civil construction work with 400000 cubic meters of concrete and 50000 tonnes of steel reinforcement. Many of the structures are safety related and seismically qualified.
While the Nuclear island buildings are replicating the design already being constructed at Flamanville 3, the Marine works and BOP have to adapt to site conditions.
The Senior Civil Engineer will work within the Architect Engineering organisation based in London taking responsibility for a team of civil engineers responsible for coordinating the interfaces between and the surveillance of subcontractors activities for the construction of the UK EPRs at Hinkley and Sizewell.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for:
• Supporting all civil engineering work
• Advising on UK experience to ensure that the favoured designs will be acceptable to a UK regulator
• Co-ordinating with New Build team members to ensure a joined up approach to the work
• Providing Regular Progress Reports highlighting any issues
• Supervising a team of civil engineers who are responsible for delegated packages of work as determined
• Technical contract surveillance and coordination of civil subcontractors
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a relevant engineering Degree (or equivalent) or a Chartered Membership of appropriate Engineering Institutions.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Chartered Engineer
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of 5+ years but preferably 10+years experience in civil construction preferably in the power generation industry.
