My client is looking to recruit a UK Commercial Director to lead and manage the commercial and contractual aspects of the UK business (Circa £150M t/o per annum) and to attain maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Capable of handing the commercial and contractual aspects on multiple major contracts. Currently contracts range from £0.5M to £60M (M&E Packages).

Can profitably run the commercial aspects of major contracts

Monitoring and forecasting the financial results

Maximising the contract margins

Maximising cash position

Identifying and managing risk and opportunity

Managing and motivating a team of QS’s and claims consultants

Lead negotiations with customer on commercial and contractual matters, achieving timely agreement in a non adversarial manner

Carry out commercial appraisals on tenders and input to tender strategies

Provide support to the negotiation and agreement of subcontract arrangement to minimise risk and maximise the advantage to the business

Ensure contract administration is being performed in a timely and professional manner and in accordance with the contract

Supervise the preparation of final accounts and lead negotiations on agreement

Develop, maintain and manage relationships with key customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements and contracts. This extends to identifying future opportunities with key customers to ensure the client is well positioned for repeat business.

Consultants, QS, legal teams, advisors – ensuring the efficient and economic use of these and other external providers

Academic Qualifications

Relevant degree preferred but not essential

Experience

Experience on construction projects at a senior level

Suitable and relevant man management experience

Ability to deal at a high business level, liaise with Senior Directors, both internally and externally
